A Classic Navy Dresser

Even though I keep saying I'm that much closer to finishing my son's room, just when I think its pretty much done, something else changes.  He changes his mind more so than me.  Interests and style literally change from one day to the next.

So I'll start by giving you glimpses into what is going into his room.  Like I did {here}. Today I'm sharing this classic detailed dresser that once again I found on Craigslist for $12, no joke and absolutely loved the size and classic look.  Although its not as tall as the inspired look on my inspiration board, I'm still very happy with my bargain and good bones find.

Country chic paint carries so many colors and its sometimes pretty hard to choose but navy happens to be one of the colors we've chosen for his room color scheme, so I decided on Midnight Sky

Don't worry it wasn't missing a drawer but I did want to get in a picture before I got started so I snapped a quick one.

This dresser as you can tell had only been stained with a very dark walnut.  Therefore to prep it I first wiped it down and then sanded it all around including the face of the drawers just so the paint could adhere better.  Normally as you may already know, with chalk paint you don't always have to sand the piece you're prepping to paint.  But when its a stain with a sealed glossy finish, you can't play it too safe.

I then just went to town painting it with some Midnight Sky.  One coat is all this dresser needed with a few touches here and there.  I let it dry for a few ours then sealed it with their antiquing wax for a darker finish.

I did the same thing with the knobs, since they're also wooden and I have not yet decided on whether I'll be changing them but I like the way it all looks finished.

Unfortunately the lighting in his room isn't the greatest but I hope to bring you better shots once I have the room put together.

Personally I love how the navy blue turned out and gives it that classic look.  I hope it inspires you to try a some of Country Chic's darker colors because they're stunning.

I hope to bring you the final reveal of his room very soon, I'll try to squeeze in some time next week to get the final details done and the room photographed for a reveal post.

Until then, thanks for stopping by and thank you Country Chic for the opportunity to work with their chalk paints on my current projects.

Don't forget to follow Country Chic Paint on their Instagram and myself for the latest!
