Did you know that the Paloma is the most popular tequila cocktail in Mexico? ... well neither did I, until I happen to try it a few years ago and I recently stumbled upon the recipe all over again simply because I realized I had some Reposado Tequila just sitting looking at me, taunting me to make a cocktail already, so I started browsing and found this sweet cocktail again and immediately thought of adding a soothing and current twist to it. Which can easily be turned into a mocktail too by the way, if you wish to opt out the tequila.
Luckily this cocktail doesn't require much because I refuse to drink a complicated drink. Usually I'm a wine, beer or a two ingredient cocktail drinker but with the warm weather upon us I wanted to try something refreshing and new.
Ingredients consist of ....
1/2 a cup of ruby red grapefruit juice
1/2 a shot of agave syrup
1 squirt of fresh lime juice
1 1/2 shots of Casadores reposado tequila
1 splash of Coconut LaCroix sparkling water (instead of club soda)
& lots of ice!
Give the tequila, grapefruit juice, syrup and ice a good shake in your shaker, pour it into your favorite glass over ice, add the squirt of lime and splash of coconut water, garnish with a sliced lime wedge and drink up!
Basically the skinny part here is the coconut sparkling water and if you wish to go even skinnier you can leave out the agave syrup.
And if you want a mocktail, by all means leave out the tequila, its just as tasty!
This is in no way a sponsored post, I can only wish Casadores would send me bottles of their tequila, but until that becomes a reality, this is just me sharing a tasty and all round good cocktail.
I think you'll agree on how refreshing and tasty this cocktail is and will especially cool you down on a very warm day!
Cheers to the Summer upon us my friends!
