The Bassett Dresser

Some of you probably remember this dresser from back in April when I showed it in my Instagram stories. It was given to us by one of my husband's co-workers. It was free, therefore I could not refuse it. After my hubs brought it home, I wasn't too sure if I actually liked it. I procrastinated a bit and kept going back and forth on whether I even wanted to keep it, sell it or even do anything with it at all. Its a great dresser, it had hearty bones, especially considering it's a Bassett dresser. Which is a very well known furniture store and one that HGTV usually uses from time to time in their shows. So, the truth was I couldn't part from it and I finally figured out how, what and where I was gonna go.

Do you see why I was a little conflicted? Well let me tell you, it finally grew on me and I knew that once it got the makeover it deserved it was going to look pretty.

The handles were my biggest dilemma. But I've noticed and have seen other dressers where the handles have been painted the same color as the rest of the dresser, therefore I was going to give it a try.

You guys know how much I love working with chalk paint. Country Chic Paint has the best quality chalk paint I've worked with and one of my top most favorite colors that they carry is the Vanilla Frosting.

This time around I used the All-In-One 16 oz pint size. The reason I love the All-In-One is because you can use it on more than just furniture and in this case I was painting the handles so it was in my best interest.

I was very happy with how the handles covered so well with the paint and once I let all the paint cure for a couple of days, I went ahead I gave it a good sanding to give it a pretty rustic look. At the end I gave it a single coat of Natural Wax, also from Country Chic Paint.

The only handle I replaced was on the cubby door. I keep vintage glass knobs and whimsical ones if I find them handy in case they ever come in handy, such as in this case.

I love this beetle knob I've had for a while and I wasn't sure if it would be fitting for this dresser, but as you can see it actually added a little something, something to it. I really love it for now.

I went ahead and added this dresser to our master bedroom and this area/wall was the perfect spot for it, almost like it was just meant to be. A lot of things have been moving and falling into place lately and I couldn't be happier.

Even the engraved embellishment on the dresser stood out with the help of the paint.

You guys, I'm so happy with how she turned out and ALL thanks to Country Chic Paint once again coming in to the rescue. This dresser has not only added the charm and beauty back into our master bedroom but its motivated a lot of the coastal cottage charm that I love and see growing more and more in our home.

Let me know your thoughts and don't forget to browse all the beautiful colors that Country Chic Paint has all year round and seasonally for a limited time. I have more projects lined up so stay tuned.
