Overcome Adversity Like a Champion

We are living in an age of self-help with gurus and self-motivational speakers easily found.

This is because we are also living in an age where stress is at a much higher level for many people and more of them are seeking help than ever before.  People seem to get frustrated much quicker and for some of them, failure seems to be a constant state.

As someone who suffers from both, I can tell you only what I've come to learn to help with these symptoms.  There are a few ways to overcome stress and anxiety for yourself, but you need to develop an endurance to tackle them. There are a few things listed below that could help you to fight stress and anxiety, and to make you a stronger person.

The Right Mindset

The first thing you have to do is to change your mindset. You have to stop thinking that you cannot do anything and that everything that goes wrong is a tragedy. Stop indulging in self-pitty basically. Everyone has things in there lives that do not work out as well as they'd hoped, but you have to face these challenges and realize they are part of what help you grow.

Changing your mindset is not always easy, especially if this has been your way of thinking for a long time. But it is time to put the ‘drama’ behind you and to realize that challenges have to be faced by most people every day.

Ditch The Excuses

Excuses are lies we tell ourselves when we are afraid to admit the truth.  Making an excuse will not change things; they will only make it feel that you were right to doubt yourself.  Making excuses can stop you from achieving success, as they can be a reason to give up.  I'm guilty of this myself.

Let's ditch the excuses together now and be honest with ourselves instead, then you will start to realize that things may not be as bad as you first thought. If you have made a mistake, admitting it to yourself is the only way to learn from it, and to prevent yourself from making a similar error in the future.

Have Faith In Yourself

Never tell yourself that you can’t because you can. You just need to have faith in yourself and this will help you to embrace any changes you need to make to make your life better. Having faith is sometimes hard to do, I know but once you believe, its there, it helps.

You can either believe in your abilities or live a life full of fear, but the two cannot exist together. When your desire becomes greater than your fear, the faith will be there automatically and life will become much simpler.  Something I'm focusing on for myself more so this year.  Fear is easy to leave yourself vulnerable to, so embracing life with faith is much more satisfying and easier to reduce stress and anxiety.

Keep Trying

If something does not work the first time that does not mean you should give up- life is all about changes and nothing will remain the same forever. A business failure means you have to try again, just as you would if you were playing a game. You do not stop playing because you lost a match, and that is how you should think of your life. There will be matches you lose, but you play again, and the sooner the better.

If you need help, from a drug rehab center or Alcoholics Anonymous or talking to a life couch or therapist for example, take that first step and get your life back on track to try again. Sometimes we all need a little help to overcome things.

Be Proud Of Success

Every time you succeed at something be proud of what you have achieved and let that empower you to move on to the next challenge. It is very easy to let failures and disappointments take over your life when in reality they should be pushed into the background and your successes should be at the front of your mind.

Every success and failure are part of the path of life you are following and if you follow the road to failure it will eventually come to a dead end. Follow the road to success instead and the world opens up before your very eyes.

Where To Go From Here

There are times when we all feel that the world is getting us down. We feel low and wonder why we bother.  You have to get up and fight back or that will become a permanent state of your mind. The brain is a very quick learner and if you replace a negative thought with a positive one every time, it will soon know that is what it has to do and you will be ready to fight back without even realizing why.

It is said that overcoming adversity is why champions succeed, why wars are won and why people go on to achieve great things. You just have to have faith in yourself, stop making excuses for mistakes, change your mindset to one that is more positive, but above all else, never give up trying.

Remember success doesn't happen overnight, and stress and anxiety relief is possible in so many natural ways, to read more about how to overcome anxiety read this post.
