Why Everyone Should Live A More Sustainable Life - Before It's Too Late

Each and every person on the planet should be making an effort to live a more sustainable life. You might think that your efforts won’t make that much difference - after all, one person can’t change the world, right? But if everybody had that attitude, we’d be running out of resources much faster than we are (and we’re still running out of them pretty alarmingly to say the least). Everybody can make a difference to the planet in one way or another.

Let’s talk about why it’s important below:

People are living longer, so sustainable development is super important. There are going to be more than 10 billion people on the planet by 2100 - you might be thinking that you won’t be alive then, but wouldn’t you like to know that your children, grandchildren, and any other relatives live safely and happily?

As the population of earth rises, there will be more demand of supplies and energy. If we continue to use fossil fuels, which are finite, environmental damage will be even more disastrous than it has been already. Sustainable resources are the only way to combat this. Sustainability has never been more important.

Eating Meat

Don't get me wrong, we're meat eaters around here and believe in the circle of life. So no judgement here.  But we're mindful of where it comes from and we definitely prefer organic.

Just because you don't agree with the killing of animals or eating meat, it doesn't mean you have to give up meat completely, but being mindful of how much you consume and where you purchase or comes from is better than nothing.

Making sure you focus on eating plenty of green foods and plants will also be better for your health. Try a plant based dish from time to time. Save money and have fun by growing your own in a greenhouse. It really will make a difference to the world.

Plastic Usage

Most countries don’t have any special treatment for waste, so they end up to landfills or the oceans. Seemingly innocent things like plastic bottles and cutlery, and even ring pulls are killing animals and wildlife. They are strangling squirrels and choking sea life as they eat them and get tangled up. The worst thing about plastic is that it does not biodegrade. It stays on the earth, slowly killing living things for hundreds and hundreds of years. Ensuring we buy recyclable materials from sustainable countries is a must. Plastic can’t always be avoided, but it can be greatly reduced.

Plenty of other things end up on landfills that take an age to biodegrade, such as women’s sanitary products. Rather than use these each time you menstruate, a moon cup can help to reduce waste and save money.

There are numerous other ways you can begin living a more sustainable life too. Find some suggestions below:

  • Always take bags with you when you go shopping
  • Buy a water filter instead of bottled water
  • Always recycle and know the rules for your area
  • Buy locally
  • Eat seasonally
  • Be mindful of your water usage
  • Invest in solar panels
  • Don’t drive when you don’t have to

Living a more sustainable lifestyle is key. Start now!

  1. Agree 100% with your opinion and appreciate the centrist position on this matter. It would surprise a lot of people on both sides of the political and social spectrum, how similar we all live our lives. My guess is that in USA and in certain parts of EU we figured it out really well. The danger our planet faces, comes from countries that declined in the past 100 years and have a very hard time to figure out that what is good for the planet is good for them as well. Keep up the good word.
