Life Currently | August

Hello friends!  

I'm happy to be back here and giving you a glimpse into what life is like currently this month.

As you all know I had surgery towards the end of July and all was successful.  I'm happy to be feeling somewhat normal again without the inconvenience of a fibroid tumor.  If you'd like to read more about it or catch up on that scenario, you can find that post here.

I'm feeling more like my old self these days, and August has been all about healing and really centering my thoughts towards healing physically, emotionally and mentally being at peace with life currently.  I'm grateful for everything God has thrown at me lately and I'm ready to conquer my life again, one way or another.

And with that said, it's been a month of some relaxing and some Summer fun while relaxing.  Getting my son prepped and ready to start his Junior year in High School, is not all the rave, I'm sad about it but excited for him!

So let's get to it shall we.

Currently Watching

These past few weeks consisted of watching one of my favorites, The Handmaid's Tale.  Honestly if you haven't watched this show, start now.  It's on it's 3rd season and it only keeps getting better.

Also we (by we, I mean my daughter and I) recently end of July to be exact just finished watching the 2nd season finale of Big Little Lies, did you watch it too?  OMG.  So gooooood right???!!!!

My husband and I skipped on watching anything last month so currently this month we were excited to have MINDHUNTERS back on Netflix for it's 2nd season.  It's a favorite of ours and so well written.

Currently Reading

This Summer, reading is my jam.  I love having a Kindle (which I've had for about 8 years now) because it allows me to buy and download books quick and not have to order and wait for the book or go out and buy one.  I love the smell and feel of an actual book so don't get me wrong.  But this is just easy access to some of my favorites minus the wait.

So with that said, I recently finished reading Dwelling: Simple Ways to Nourish Your Home, Body and Soul.  If you haven't picked up this book, you MUST!  It's one of those books that simply reminds you of all the things that are worth pouring your time into and the things that simply are not worth our valuable time to really nourish our lives for the better.

And as of right now, I am in the middle of this book, Own Your Everyday by Jordan Lee Dooley.  And in case you didn't know she has a podcast too.  Which brings me to the next topic below.

Currently Listening To

I'm currently really loving the SHE podcast by Jordan Lee Dooley, if you haven't read her book or listened to her podcast do yourself a favor and do one or both asap!  I am a big fan of TED talks but this is more than just that, she's super relatable and funny too, so if you're in the mood for encouragement and uplifting daily words, listen to her or have a read.

Currently Eating

Still eating pretty healthy these days, doing my best to stay on the Keto track, and I've shared a few recipes on my Instagram that I've saved into my Keto Friendly Highlights if you're interested in some ideas or feel free to visit me over on my Pinterest Board where I've saved even more inspiring recipes.

I've also recently been introduced to Jenny Craig and I've given the Jenny Craig 28 day challenge a try, more on that soon on a separate blog post.

Currently Shopping For

I have finally found my love for shopping for myself again.  I no longer hesitate if I see something I like, unless it's not on sale of course.  But for a long time, I felt guilty for shopping for myself instead of my kids or husband.  It's okay now, I've given myself grace and permission to be selfish every once in a while.

Now that my focus is also on myself and my wellbeing it definitely feels like shopping is also more of a treat to myself.

Currently Doing

Well it might come as a shock to some or none at all.  But lately besides focusing on my wellness all around, I've really put the focus back into working out more often and more religiously than I have the last 7 years.  I missed running and I missed feeling good both inside and out when I looked in the mirror.  I had stopped running a few years back because.... well.... life happens.  We moved and then we bought a house and moved again.  I changed jobs and my kids were really busy, therefore so was I.

But now that life has slowed down a bit or should I say, I've made it slow down again to my liking and for my sake and sanity.  Physical health is on the top of my list again, therefore a month prior to surgery I started running and strength training again so my body wouldn't be in shock after I started doing it again after I recovered from surgery.  If that makes sense.

And now I'm feeling the burn and feeling better than ever.  I'm working out four to five times a week, eating healthy and I've lost 13 lbs but best of all, I'm feeling great and physically I'm happy to see my old self again, in the mirror.

Currently Thinking

Lately this month especially I've been thinking a lot about how I want to feel more in control of myself and worry less about controlling everything else.

Truth is, for a while now (in recent years) I started to feel like I needed to control everything and what everyone was doing and analyzing all the situations.  But I started noticing that it wasn't doing me or anyone else any good, in fact, that's when I realized my anxiety was starting to spike and my family was suffering because of it.

So I'm thinking more happy, more nonchalant and happy me, happy family, cross your fingers!

Currently Planning

I've been in planning mode lately for the now and future.  So many things I'm hoping to do with my family, adventures of course and just living life as best we can.

Besides that though, I've been helping plan my younger sister's Bridal Shower and party planning is truly my favorite.  Seeing it all come together is so fun.  Okay, so I've also been sorta planning my 40th birthday coming next month, but I'm not making it a priority, if you know what I mean, but I guess I should.  I'm feeling better than I have in 10 years and that's something to celebrate.


I hope that gives you all a bit of more insight of what's been happening with life lately.  I know I hardly go onto my stories these days and spill it all, truth is I find it easier to write it all down, because saying it out loud in video sometimes feels as if I'm forgetting details or skipping over them just so I don't take up too much of your time.

Anyhow, so I hope you all still come over here to keep up with me and my happenings for old time sake because I love you all for your loyalty!
