Kids Play Kitchen DIY | My Niece's Christmas Gift Last Year

Last Christmas this was my niece's reaction to her new play kitchen gifted to her. This isn't your Ikea kitchen either, it's the KidKraft Let's Cook Wooden Play Kitchen from Kohl's

And it actually got a little modern farmhouse makeover.

Truth is we searched and searched and almost went with the Ikea kitchen but when we saw this one and how updated it was already with certain features, we knew there wasn't much we were going to need to do except a few tweeks here and there.

Below is the before.

This kitchen's features are what truly sold us on this one in particular not to mention the affordable $$.

  • Burners with lights & sounds
  • Oven & microwave doors open and close
  • Convenient storage under microwave
  • Oven knobs turn & click
  • Removable sink for easy cleanup
  • Pull-down faucet
  • Real working cabinets & doors

All I really did was buy some subway tile sticky paper roll from Amazon which you can find here.  The reason I did that was so that the pots and pans and features that the kitchen already comes with would stand out. Plus I wasn't a fan of the faux plants and window.

And it gives it  a clean crisp modern farmhouse feel.  Don't you think so?

The cool thing is that we're now working on 2019's gift of the year for my niece. And if you follow me on Instagram and caught my stories recently, I'm taking on a new project. I had the luck of coming across this playhouse for free. It's a little run down but nothing a little paint and elbow grease can't fix.

I went ahead and saved my Insta stories of the playhouse on my highlights so make sure you check it out in case you missed it. And get a glimpse of the project as it progresses.
