Styled With Confidence: Tips To Freshen Up Your Look

Confidence is essential to make the most of your potential and get the best out of life.

Unfortunately, many people have low self-confidence, and it can be difficult to build confidence once you’ve taken a knock. If you’re keen to boost self-esteem and feel more comfortable in your own skin, here are some tips to freshen up your look.

Changing your hairstyle

The shape, color and length of your hair can have a dramatic impact on the way you look and feel. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut if you’re not the most adventurous type, or your lifestyle means that you have little time available to do your hair. If you’ve been sporting the same cut for as long as you can remember, or you tend to alternate between a bun and a ponytail, why not treat yourself to a trip to the salon? Even subtle changes, like adding shape and texture around the face or lightening your hair color, can make an incredible difference to your look, as well as your confidence. Have a look through some magazines and browse online galleries to get ideas, and ask your stylist what kinds of styles and tones they feel would suit you best.

Creating a new capsule wardrobe

Buying new clothes is a great way to inspire confidence, but sometimes, when you have low self-esteem, shopping isn’t the most enjoyable experience. If you do find the prospect of going into stores and trying clothes on, or organizing a day of retail therapy with friends or family members daunting, why not shop online? You can explore different sites and select items you like without worrying about what anyone thinks. When your new clothes have been delivered, you can try them on in the comfort of your own home, and you don’t have to show anyone if you don’t want to.

Putting a new capsule wardrobe together is a brilliant way to embrace new trends and switch up your style without blowing the budget. Invest in basics and a couple of statement pieces for each season and diversify your outfits using accessories. You can dress a pair of jeans and a top up or down, for example, simply by adding a pair of heels, a fitted blazer, a collar necklace and a clutch or opting for flat sandals, a cross-body bag, a nose hoop, chunky bangles and shades. When you’re shopping, try not to write products off because you assume that they won’t suit you. Look for items that will complement the body parts you love most and flatter your figure and be kind to yourself. If you’ve never tried a jumpsuit, a pair of high-waisted jeans or a maxi dress on before, you won’t know whether they suit you or not.

Treat your skin

Flawless, youthful skin is top of most of our beauty wish-lists. Sadly, most of us don’t have perfect skin, but there are ways of taking care of your skin and giving your complexion a healthy glow. Your skin is exposed to the elements, and hormonal changes can also take their toll. To protect and nourish your skin, always wear sunscreen, stay hydrated and cleanse daily. Apply moisturizer or a hydrating serum if you’re prone to dry skin and treat yourself to a facial to de-stress and relax. If you feel better with a bit of color in your cheeks, there are some excellent self-tanning products available, including drops you can add to your normal moisturizer to add a subtle golden hue.

Most of us have days when we don’t feel confident. If you experience low self-esteem, or you wish you felt happier when you looked in the mirror, why not take these steps to boost your confidence and freshen up your look?
