The Modern Wedding: Elements You Need to Know About

Weddings used to have the same traditional elements through generations.

Nowadays, though, there are new elements that many couples have been adding to their weddings. Several of these elements may be new to you, but they are becoming more popular in modern weddings.

Here are some unique wedding aspects you should probably know about.

Wedding Websites

Many couples now create wedding websites where they can share information about their big day with guests. This is a great way to keep everyone updated on your plans and provide information on things like your registry and directions to the venue.

You can also use your website to share photos and videos from or even before the wedding. More on this later.

Social Media Accounts and Hashtags for the Wedding

And it's not just a website, either. Couples are creating accounts on various social media platforms for their wedding. They will most probably have it on Facebook and Instagram.

You will find that these accounts feature unique hashtags for the wedding. Hashtags have become a part of almost every social media aspect, and weddings are no exception.

Couples often create unique hashtags for their wedding that guests can use when posting photos and updates on social media. This is a great way to collect all the pictures and memories from your wedding in one place.

The most common hashtags link the couple's names. Think JLo and Ben Affleck's #Bennifer. Couples have even improved on that by coining cute taglines from couple names. Here's one found online for Art and Krissy: #myheARTisgoingKRISSY

There are now free wedding hashtag generators online. You can also hire people to make a hashtag for you.

Engagement or Prenup Photo Shoot

Engagement or prenup photo shoots are another new element popular in modern weddings. This is a photo shoot that couples have before the wedding, usually with a professional photographer.

A lifestyle photographer will produce the best shots for this. Prenup photo shoots are not made up of stiff, posed photos. Instead, they reflect the couple's personality, the things they love to do, or their dreams. These can be witty and funny, daring and adventurous, or high fantasy, among many other themes.

Whatever the couple wants, it always comes out romantic.

The photos are often used for things like save-the-dates, the wedding website, and social media accounts.

Boudoir Photo Shoot

A variation of the engagement of prenup photo shoot, or sometimes done in addition to it, is the boudoir photo shoot. This can be focused on the bride as a gift to the groom, or on the groom as a gift to the bride. They can exchange boudoir photo shoots done separately. They can also do a photo shoot together.

As the name implies, the boudoir photo shoot is intimate and sexy. It shows the bride or the groom or the two of them together in an entirely new light. These are usually private albums.

Some couples dare to share, though.

Location Wedding

A location wedding is a wedding that takes place in a location away from where the couple lives. This can be in another city, state, or country. It can even be on another continent!

Couples often choose locations that have special meaning to them. It can be where they met, had their first date, where he proposed, or her hometown. It can also be simply a place they both love and want to share with their guests.

One benefit to having a location wedding is that it is more intimate since only the couple's closest family and friends will make the effort to attend. Another benefit is that the couple need not be embarrassed about not inviting everyone they know to the wedding.

However, there are also some disadvantages to having a location wedding. One is that it can be logistically challenging to coordinate. Another is that it can be more expensive for guests who have to travel to attend.

Live Streaming the Wedding

One of the newest trends in weddings is live streaming the event. This allows guests who cannot attend the wedding to still experience it as it happens. It also allows couples to share their special day with more people.

There are many platforms that offer live streaming services, such as Facebook Live and Instagram Live. Couples can choose to live stream the entire wedding or just select parts of it, such as the ceremony or reception.

The advantages of live streaming are that it is relatively simple to set up and it is a great way to include more people in your wedding. The disadvantages are that it can be distracting for guests who are trying to watch and enjoy the event, and there is always the possibility that something will go wrong with the technology.

Same-Day Edit of the Wedding Video

Wedding videographers have become increasingly creative and technologically skilled. Today, they can cover a wedding and the start of the reception and before the reception ends present a breathtaking same-day edit on a big screen. They even edit in childhood photos of the bride and groom.

Couples and guests love this because it captures the raw emotions of the day. It also adds an element of suspense and excitement to the reception as everyone waits to see the final product.

These are only some new elements of the modern wedding. With the ever-changing trends, there is always something new to discover.

So, if you are planning a wedding, keep an eye out for the latest trends to make your day even more special.
