Our Grandson's Nursery

One room in our house is officially done, okay maybe not 100% because I am still looking for a lampshade and I'll be adding a couple of more art pieces but it's done considering these are things I'll be taking my time finding with full intention and attention. Also it just so happens to be one of the smallest rooms in the house besides the bathrooms.

Originally we hadn't planned on creating a nursery or kids room, a playroom yes, but it only seemed ideal considering our grandson is here often and takes naps and sleeps over from time to time. And I'm glad we did.

I knew what I wanted in that room and how simple yet cozy I wanted it to be. The colors kinda just happened and were worked around the wallpaper. The wallpaper was something I chose right away besides the crib, everything else came along soon after and all fell into place nicely.

You might remember me sharing having collaborated with D. Marie Interiors  and they gifted me this wallpaper which I fell in love with right away. It's their York Rifle Paper Co Emerald Menagerie Toile Wallpaper, it just felt timeless and classic to me which is exactly what I wanted.

This room is different and not like any others I've ever designed or put together before and the lighting in here is best in the afternoon but it gets pretty bright so there is no great time to photograph besides the late afternoon so though these photos are as best as I could get they don't do this room justice.

The wallpaper alone makes a statement and that's what I wanted the focus to be in this room.

I mentioned before on my Instagram stories about having chosen to go with a monochrome paint look in this room and below shows exactly what I meant. And in case you don't know what monochrome color palette is here you go....

Monochromatic (or mono) is a color scheme based on only one, single color tint. It uses only variations (shades) of a single hue, made by altering the saturation and brightness of the base color.

Ikea shelves I had in our previous home found a new destination by adding a nice little nook area for books and trinkets and art if you will.

As I mentioned before still looking for the perfect lampshade for this hanging light but when I find it I will definitely let you know.

Vintage toys and things are a must for some nostalgia and fun in this room.

I even wanted to add some art that my daughter created while in junior high so that Saylor could admire it as he grows up and this room will not only grow with him but he will grow with it as well.

This room is fully furnished and brought to you by Facebook Marketplace and items we already had from our previous home and I am so happy with our finds and how it's turned out so far, as we continue to find pieces like add baskets on top of his armoire which I'll hopefully find while thrifting I will share including how I will be organizing the inside of his armoire which is still unfinished.

The colors of this room were inspired by the color I used on our interior doors. Both his closet and entry door are Perfect Taupe in the eggshell finish by Behr Premium Plus paint.

The walls I basically used the same color Perfect Taupe by Behr but I lightened it with some white flat paint for a lighter finish. And I couldn't be happier with the contrast.

The armoire is painted in one of my favorites by Country Chic Paint which I will share more with you in a different post soon.

I didn't want to add a dramatic rug in here just yet, I wanted something easy to move around and easy to throw in the washer if necessary for now. This cute cream rug was a Homegoods/TJMaxx find and it's perfect in here.

Hope you like it as much as I do, again I know this is different from my usual but this whole house is a lot more traditional and intentional than our previous and I love that this room/nursery is not your usual and yet it speaks our personality and Saylor's too.

I have linked similar pieces below that you might be interested in shopping for considering I couldn't link anything in this room besides the wallpaper and paint.
